Good morning! (8/22/16)
Good morning! It’s been a while since an update I’ve been a little under the weather😣 This may be a long one….Alrighty so here we go! I will start with Friday the 12th, I woke up to take the girls to school and wasn’t feeling very good…I took them to school came home laid down for 30 mins and then had to head up to IU for the genetics appointment. I had decided I would be fine going alone since they weren’t able to do the full genomics markup I would just basically find out if they found any genetic mutation with my tumors. On my way up to IU I felt terrible…I literally had no energy and could barely make it to the clinic..in the waiting area I decided to call my nurse navigator and tell her how I felt and what I should do that I didn’t want to go to the hospital if I absolutely didn’t have to! She told me to just swing by the office on my way home from IU. Okay so about the genetics…they did find a DNA mutation in PIK3CA. PIK3CA activates signals that result in cell growth and survival. When it is mutated it can send signals that promote cancer cells growth. They provided me information on a clinical trial specifically targeting this it is so new the drug doesn’t have a name yet and I would need to go to Cleveland to receive it..after a discussion, we decided to continue with my current treatment since it appears that it’s working and down the road this may be an option or they may have a new trial for this sort of thing. They also informed me this was not passed down to me nor would it be passed to my kids. It’s just a random mutation but to keep in mind there’s always a greater chance of getting cancer when you have 1st degree relatives with it. Okay so now I’m finished with that appointment and I’m basically crawling out of there I’m so exhausted..I’m so chilled I’m wearing a jacket and it’s 90 degrees and I can’t catch my breath…I make my way to the doctors office and she takes 1 look at me and says your going to the hospital…so from there I had to go immediately to the hospital. I was running a fever and having pain under my right ribcage. After a week stay a few scans and removal of my gallbladder, I think I’m on the upswing…. Turns out I had pneumonia in my left lung and my gallbladder was giving me trouble.. I’m feeling better, but I’m not sure my pneumonia is completely gone..I’m tired basically all the time but I’m fever free! I’m going to try to build my endurance back up, I’m finding from all this illness I’ve gotten weak from all the rest!! Anyways thanks to everyone who helped me during that time with my kiddos and sending me sweet messages! I’m getting them even if I don’t respond..I’ve been kinda in a mental funk the past few weeks and have been hiding out I guess you would call it.. I appreciate every single one of you! I’m still learning how to navigate this new life and at times its super overwhelming..It’s a new week and I’m determined to have a great week!! Happy Monday and so much love to all of you 💗💜💙
